Human Knot
Divide into groups of 6-10 people. Each group forms a tight circle, standing and facing one another. Everyone first extends their right hand into the circle and grabs another group member's hand. They repeat this with their left hand. Group members must make sure that the two hands they are holdoing don't belong to the same person. The group's goal is to untie the knot while not letting go of any hands. It is rare but it is possible for a knot to be unsolvable or end in two separate circles. This activity can be used to illustrate the transition from new group chaos to an organized clear team focus.

Formulating Operating Guidelines
During this team-building period, the new team needs to establish guidelines for how it will work during the course of its existence. The guidelines should clarify actions and roles and should reduce ambiguity or mixed expectations of people as to how things ought to function, which is the basis of a great deal of conflict in a team.
