This is a comprehensive checklist of tasks a supervisor should do to prepare for a new employee, specifically in Housing/Residence Life. It can be adapted for any other Student Affairs office or in general.


I first did a "cultural audit" in my first internship while in graduate school. Upon arriving to my internship site, my first task was to "audit" my new workplace to better understand why and how the organization operated the way it did.

There really is no one way to do this, but I have found great value in observing and analyzing a workplace before I fully become part of it.
